Michael Obergfell Appointed President of USI Consultants

Michael J. Obergfell, PE, has been appointed President of USI Consultants, Inc. after 26 years with the firm. Mike will lead the next generation of USI to new levels of experience and service. USI will continue their dedication to clients in making Indiana truly the Crossroads of America.

Mike has accepted this position from Philip D. Beer II, PE, PS, FACEC. After 32 years as an executive of USI, Phil will complete his final year with the company as acting CEO.

“As Phil transitions into retirement at the end of 2024, I want to thank him for his service to USI. Besides being one of the best bridge engineers I’ve had the privilege to work with, Phil has always been the levelheaded advisor that has kept us on the right track,” said Obergfell. Phil was a key player in expanding USI from exclusively a surveying firm into a full-service civil engineering company.

Craig Parks is one such individual whose passion is devoted to helping Indiana’s “locals” navigate through infrastructure projects of all complexities, from start to finish. His contributions are truly felt statewide! Craig is both a valued asset and a dear friend to USI, which is why we fully support him and his decision to embark on an exciting new chapter with Avenew, Inc. Starting in late June, Craig will join Travis Underhill, Joe McGuiness, and several others in this new facet of the infrastructure industry. Leadership Changes in 2023

We are pleased to announce that Marlin “Mak” A. Knowles, PE is now a shareholder of USI Consultants, Inc. and has been named as the new Senior Vice President of Operations. Mak has been a valuable asset to USI as the Director of Operations for the past five years. His extensive experience in operations management and strategic planning within the infrastructure industry is vital to his new role. Mak’s leadership and commitment to delivering results will be a tremendous asset to our organization. This appointment of Mak as Senior Vice President of Operations is an exciting and important milestone for USI as a company eager to deepen our roots in Indiana and increase our overall success.
