USI Bridge Design
USI keeps an in-house full service bridge design staff experienced in all aspects of bridge design. Our design professionals assist and assess our client’s needs fromsimple to complex bridge replacement and rehabilitation designs. Our engineers have experience in hydraulic analysis, structure sizing, cost estimating, and structural design. In addition, we have expertise in the detailing of timber, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and steel bridge alternatives for projects of any size or aesthetic requirements. Our team has countless years of experience performing award winning complex bridge rehabilitation and widening projects on existing and historic bridge structures for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and Counties throughout Indiana.

Our firm specializes in the design of steel, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete, along with timber bridges by American Timber Bridge (ATB). USI offers full-service designs of bridges and culverts, including permit applications, load analysis, feasibility studies, analysis of funding options for federal aid application preparation, and design plans for rehabilitation and new construction projects.

All projects are completed using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and drafting software packages, such as Land Development Desktop’s design modules operating within AutoCAD and various structural design packages for bridges. USI similarly provides hydrologic and hydraulic design for culvert and bridge stream crossings utilizing HEC RAS, Hy8, and HAESTAD’s Culvert Master.
